Sophie Anger joined Mars, Incorporated in 2013 and is now Associate General Counsel, Marketing Properties of Global Petcare. She is responsible for the development and execution of global business and marketing brand strategies, as well as the coordination and oversight of the day-to-day Petcare trademark portfolio. The Petcare business segment of Mars includes iconic brands such as Pedigree, Cesar, Sheba, and Whiskas.

Prior to Mars, Ms. Anger was In-house Counsel at Merck, where she oversaw the development, clearance, prosecution, and enforcement of a large portfolio of pharmaceutical trademarks. She began her legal career as a Corporate Associate working in various New York City firms. Ms. Anger has an LLM from Cornell Law School along with several law school degrees from the Sorbonne University in France.

Patrick J. Arnold Jr. has been practicing IP law at McAndrews, Held & Malloy since he began his legal career in 1990. While his practice concentrates on patent, trademark, and copyright litigation, he also assists clients in prosecution, counseling, and licensing. Mr. Arnold’s background in physics has enabled him to work on a wide variety of IP matters. His trademark practice has involved diverse areas of business, ranging from a large New Jersey casino to the leading gestational surrogacy services company.

Mr. Arnold’s trademark practice has included several cases relating to grey market goods, along with cases relating to widely popular figurines, novelty motion lamps, and product designs for awnings for recreational vehicles and popular children’s toys.

Mr. Arnold shares his firm’s philosophy that it is important for trademark lawyers to also be patent lawyers, since the two areas of the law intersect.

Fernando Casares Teixeira is Head of Daniel Law’s Brand Protection and Anti-counterfeiting department. His field of activity covers all aspects of IP, with a particular emphasis on commercial investigations, repressive measures with police and customs authorities in Brazil and Latin America, litigation in the criminal sphere involving trademarks, copyright, and unfair competition, as well as UDRP. Mr. Casares also develops educational programs to disseminate information about the brands and characters of clients to enforcement authorities in Brazil and Latin America.
Mr. Casares has completed postgraduate studies in criminal procedure and fundamental rights at the Brazilian Academy of Constitutional Law and has an LLB from the Rio de Janeiro Federal University. He has also completed specialization courses in compliance, counterfeit product risk assessment, and mitigation.
Mr. Casares is member of INTA and part of its Anti-counterfeiting Committee and a member of the Brazilian Institute for Criminal Sciences.

Alexandra DeNeve is Senior Counsel of Trademarks for Velcro Group Corporation (VGC), based in Manchester, New Hampshire. She began her career in private practice, first with Kirkland & Ellis handling patent, trade secret, and trademark litigation, and then with Loeb & Loeb where her practice focused on copyright and trademark litigation and counseling for clients in the entertainment industry. Ms. DeNeve then switched from private practice to in-house as Trademark Counsel with Major League Baseball Properties. In 2016 she joined VGC, seizing the opportunity to work with one of the most unique and storied brands in the world, and for a company that has steadily provided manufacturing jobs in central New Hampshire for more than 60 years. Ms. DeNeve received her law degree from Tulane University School of Law.
